Norton Leatherman Spine added two spine surgeons who started working at the Louisville, Ky.-based practice Sept. 1.

Dr. Simon Kelley was named chief of orthopedic surgery and sports medicine at Texas Children's Hospital in Houston. 

Chad Amato, MD, a hand and upper-extremity surgeon, has joined Orthopedic Associates of Port Huron (Mich.). 

In August, Miami-based Badia Hand to Shoulder Center added its first associate, orthopedic surgeon Joel Peterson, MD. 

The highest paid orthopedic surgeon in Washington, D.C., earns $1,172,700, according to Medscape's salary reporter tool, which is much higher than the mean annual wage of $378,250 orthopedic surgeons make according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
