Orthopedic surgeon to know: Dr. Jon Warner of Massachusetts General Hospital

Jon J.P. Warner, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon at Boston-based Massachusetts General Hospital.

Dr. Warner serves as MGH’s shoulder service chief, as well as the MGH/Brigham and Women’s Hospital shoulder fellowship director at Boston-based Harvard Medical School. He is also an orthopedic surgery professor at Harvard Medical School.

Previously, Dr. Warner was UPMC’s shoulder service chief for eight years.

Dr. Warner is past president of the New England Shoulder and Elbow Society and the American Shoulder and Elbow Society. He is an Orthopaedic Research Society, American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy Association of North America member.

Dr. Warner received 30-plus awards for his clinical and basic research and authoredf more than 100 peer-reviewed publications, 200 book chapters and five textbooks.

After earning his medical degree from University of Rochester (N.Y.) School of Medicine and Dentistry, Dr. Warner completed residencies at Boston-based Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Rochester-based Strong Memorial Hospital. He underwent fellowship training at Boston Children’s Hospital, New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery and University of Bern in Bern, Switzerland.
