James Womack, MD, completed the first surgery in the world using Think Surgical’s Tmini miniature robotic system in combination with the Stryker Triathlon knee system.

The new knee replacement procedure aims to expand implant compatibility and improve surgical accuracy, efficiency and consistency, according to a March 5 news release from Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare.

The miniature robot system also allows surgeons to personalize each procedure based on patients’ anatomy and clinical needs through an open approach to implant selection.

Dr. Womack is an orthopedic surgeon at Clinton, Mo.-based GVMH, the release said.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
