Two Kansas City orthopedic surgeons are using robotic technology to increase precision in hip and knee replacements, according to a Sept. 2 KCTV5 report.
Scott Abraham, MD, and Scott Wingerter, MD, PhD, both of Kansas City Orthopedic Alliance, said the integration allows for more accurate implant placement, better soft tissue balance and potentially faster recovery times. Surgeries with robotic assistance take about the same time as traditional procedures — typically 1 to 1.5 hours — but can be less invasive, according to the report.
The system implemented the technology in 2018 and has since expanded its role in patient care.
