New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery has received its sixth Magnet designation for nursing excellence, more than any other hospital in New York state.
Fewer than 0.5% of hospitals nationwide have achieved the honor six times from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. HSS was the first hospital in Manhattan to receive the designation in 2002, according to a Dec. 17 news release from the health system.
Magnet status is awarded every four years based on nursing leadership, clinical outcomes and alignment with national patient care standards.
