Former Missouri orthopedic surgeon gets 90 days in jail after sexually abusing patients: 3 details

A former orthopedic surgeon based in Clayton, Mo., was sentenced to 90 days in jail and five years of probation for sexually abusing seven women at two medical offices near St. Louis, according to St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Here are three details:

1. St. Louis County Circuit Judge Gloria Reno gave the former orthopedic surgeon, Howard Setzer, DO, a suspended seven-year prison sentence for two felony counts of sodomy and sent Dr. Setzer to jail for 90 days total for eight misdemeanor counts of sexual assault and abuse.

2. In October, Dr. Setzer pleaded guilty to sexually abusing at least seven women at Mid County Orthopaedic Surgery & Sports Medicine’s offices in Richmond Heights, Mo., and Creve Coeur, Mo.

3. The former orthopedic surgeon is currently serving probation for sexually abusing 14 women at his St. Charles County (Mo.) office.
