8 orthopedic partnerships in the past month — AAOS, Rothman Orthopaedics & more

From a new bundled payment initiative to an orthopedic practice expanding into Florida, here are eight orthopedic partnerships Becker’s Spine Review has reported on in the past month:

1. Philadelphia-based Rothman Orthopaedic Institute is expanding into Florida through a partnership with Altamonte Springs, Fla.-based AdventHealth.

2. CMS and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons’ registry program will collaborate on a model year four Bundled Payments for Care Improvement Advanced Program, beginning Jan. 1.

3. Private equity firm Thurston Group formed orthopedic management services organization U.S. Orthopedic Partners through a partnership with FFL Partners and Jackson-based Mississippi Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center.

4. Chicago-based Rush University System for Health and Select Medical entered into a joint venture to operate a critical illness recovery hospital, an inpatient rehabilitation hospital and 63 physical therapy centers.

5. Vail, Colo.-based The Steadman Clinic formalized a partnership with Aspen (Colo.) Valley Hospital, and is developing an ASC in collaboration with Vail Health and Orthopedic Care Partners.

6. Orthofix and Neo Medical entered into a partnership and investment agreement to develop a single-use spine solution.

7. Greenwich, Conn.-based Orthopaedic & Neurosurgery Specialists has increased the number of physicians in its network to 34 after an affiliation with Orthopedic Associates of Middletown (Conn.).

8. Auckland, New Zealand-based medical device company OPUM Technologies teamed with Tampa, Fla.-based surgical healthcare provider iProcedures to integrate a remote patient monitoring system into ASC EHRs.
