First patient enrolled in study to assess 3D-printed models in orthopedic tumor care

The first patient was enrolled in a clinical study to evaluate 3D-printed models for orthopedic tumor removal, Ricoh USA said June 26.

The study will assess 3D-printed models as part of preoperative planning and tumor excision compared to sole reliance on CT or MRI imaging, according to a news release. The study is expected to run for 12 months across three sites. Up to 150 participants will be part of the study.

Ricoh USA focuses on integrated digital services and print and imaging products. Stratasys, a 3D-printing company is a co-sponsor of the study.
