Pittsburgh-based Allegheny Health Network has named Volker Musahl, MDto three sports medicine leadership roles.
Dr. Musahl will join AHN in February as chief sports medicine officer, medical director of international orthopedics and sports medicine, and chief of orthopedic sports medicine research, according to an Aug. 17 news release from the health system.
He currently serves in several roles at Pittsburgh-based UPMC and the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, including chief of the division of sports medicine, medical director of UPMC International Sports Medicine and director of the sports medicine fellowship program.
At Allegheny Health , Dr. Musahl will help lead the network’s sports medicine strategy and clinical and translational research efforts. He will also work to expand national and international collaborations and AHN’s orthopedic residency and sports medicine fellowship training programs, the release said.
