7 hockey players undergoing orthopedic surgery in 2023

Here are seven National Hockey League players that have undergone orthopedic procedures in 2023: 

1. Dougie Hamilton of the New Jersey Devils is out indefinitely after undergoing a procedure by team orthopedic surgeon Guillem Gonzalez-Lomas, MD, and chief medical officer Jonathan Glashow, MD, to heal a torn left pectoral muscle. 

2. Tomas Nosek of the New Jersey Devils underwent surgery performed by orthopedic surgeon Martin O'Malley, MD, of New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery for a right foot injury. 

3. Robert Marx, MD, performed knee surgery on Christian Dvorak, a forward for the Montreal Canadiens at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. 

4. Marty Isbell, MD, an orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist at Raleigh (N.C.) Orthopaedic, performed knee surgery on Andrei Svechnikov, a forward for the Carolina Hurricanes. 

5. Denver-based Peter Millett, MD, performed shoulder surgery on professional hockey player Arber Xhekaj, a defenseman for the Montreal Canadiens. 

6. Chad Prusmack, MD, a neurosurgeon at the Rocky Mountain Spine Clinic in Lone Tree, Colo., performed back surgery on Mark Stone, a winger for the Vegas Golden Knights. 

7. Dr. Millett also performed shoulder surgery on Cole Caufield, a winger for the Montreal Canadiens.
