Three insights:
1. MR-guided ultrasound is used to treat essential tremor and tremor-dominant Parkinson’s disease and requires no radiation exposure.
2. It uses non-audible sound waves rather than incisions, brain implants or radiation. The waves target a precise area in the brain to stop the tremor during a single treatment session.
3. WVU Medicine neurologists work with neurosurgeons, neuropsychologists and other specialists to help patients regain optimal motor control of their bodies.
