Prisma Health is expanding its orthopedic services in Laurens, S.C., establishing freestanding  offices for its orthopedics practice and outpatient therapies through part of a $2 million expansion project, according to a Nov. 20 report from The Laurens County Advertiser.

Lawrenceville, Ga.-based Summit Spine & Joint Centers acquired Fayetteville, N.C.-based Integrated Pain Solutions, according to a Nov. 19 news release. 

A judge ruled in favor of Montgomery, Ala.-based Southern Orthopaedic Surgeons' plans for an ASC, Yellowhammer News reported Nov. 15.

Sioux Falls, S.D.-based Sanford Health is becoming the parent company of Black Hills Surgical Hospital and Black Hills Orthopedic and Spine Center, and those entities will transition to nonprofit status, the health system said.

As more orthopedic cases move to the outpatient setting, ASC leaders should continue to deepen their focus on optimizing patient care, Nyleen Flores said.

Cleveland-based University Hospitals' orthopedic specialists, including those at UH Drusinsky Sports Medicine Institute and UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital, will now treat patients at Western Reserve Health Center in Hudson, Ohio. 

Beaumont (Texas) Bone and Joint Institute is opening a new location, according to a Nov. 11 report from the Beaumont Enterprise.

Memphis, Tenn.-based OrthoSouth has opened the new OrthoSouth Spine Institute, the only mid-south spinal care practice to house a multidisciplinary team of spine specialists at a single practice.

Spectrum Orthopaedics, a division of Spectrum Healthcare Partners in Portland, Maine, plans to separate and operate as an independent group, MaineBiz reported Nov. 8.
