The program allows surgeons to direct the entire care for patients throughout the typical 90-day period from pre-admission through recovery. Horizon Healthcare Innovations partnered with five New Jersey orthopedic practices to launch the program in January 2011. Since then, three more practices have entered into the partnership.
Part of the program gathers data on the cost of care for total joint replacement to assess a reasonable payment for the overall care — not just the surgeon’s time in the OR.
