Colorado hospital attributes revenue growth to orthopedic surgery: 5 things to know

Meeker, Colo.-based Pioneers Medical Center projected its 2019 revenues will top $30.31 million, representing a 20.6 percent year-over-year increase, according to The Herald Times.

Here are five things to know:

1. The revenue boost is attributed to the hospital’s growth in the orthopedic surgery area.

2. PMC purchased the $1 million Mako Total Knee Robotic-Arm to assist in knee surgeries.

3. PMC also proposed a $7.7 million orthopedic expansion. The expansion would include two additional operating rooms, three recovery rooms, six hospital rooms and additional clinical space.

4. As part of the expansion, the hospital aims to hire additional staff, including an orthopedic surgeon, a certified registered nurse anesthetist, a physician assistant, a surgery technician, two hospital RNs, a physical therapy assistant and two clinic assistants.

5. The hospital’s board greenlighted the executive team to start building the expansion.
