Atlanta spine hospital receives $80M grant

Shepherd Center, a 152-bed nonprofit hospital in Atlanta, has received an $80 million grant from Home Depot co-founder Bernie Marcus and his wife, according to a Dec. 10. news release.

Three things to know:

1. The hospital specializes in the treatment, research and rehabilitation of individuals with spinal cord injury and disease, spine and chronic pain, multiple sclerosis and other neurological conditions.

2. The funding will support additional capacity so more patients can receive care.

3. Shepherd Center has served more than 35,000 patients since it was founded in 1975.
