Vector Science and Therapeutics, a medical technology and therapeutic delivery company, filed a provisional patent application covering a platform designed to improve tissue healing in orthopedic surgical care.

The platform pairs tissue-repair-promoting peptides with a patient’s own platelet-rich plasma or platelet-rich fibrin. The application also covers formulations and sequencing approaches intended to reduce potential conflicts between regenerative therapies and agents used for pain control and infection prevention during orthopedic surgery, according to an Aug. 20 news release.

The provisional application establishes a priority date and gives Vector a 12-month window in which to pursue a non-provisional filing.

The platform remains in development. No clinical studies have been conducted, and the candidates described in the application are investigational and have not been approved for any indication by the FDA or any other regulatory body, according to the release.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
