GelrinC, Regentis Biomaterials’ cartilage-repair technology, received a Japanese Notice of Allowance for patent protection covering its organic solvent-free manufacturing process and ready-to-use liquid formulation.

The Japanese patent allowance followed a recent U.S. patent issuance and expanded the company’s global intellectual property portfolio to nearly 30 patents, according to an Aug. 18 news release.

Regentis’ manufacturing process increases yield fivefold and simplifies production to support commercial-scale manufacturing. GelrinC is a cell-free hydrogel for knee cartilage repair delivered in a single procedure of about 10 minutes without cell harvesting or laboratory processing.

The company is also advancing European commercialization following CE Mark approval. Its pivotal U.S. trial is beyond 50% enrollment, with premarket approval preparation targeted for the end of 2027.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
