Smith+Nephew launched an adjustable-angle wand designed to help surgeons reach difficult areas during hip procedures.

The Flow Flextend coblation wand features an adjustable tip that allows surgeons to change its angle to reach targeted tissue. The wand can also be straightened for insertion and removal, according to an Aug. 17 news release.

The wand uses Smith+Nephew’s existing Flow-IQ technology, which, according to the release, automatically balances saline outflow with coblation energy. Flow-IQ technology has been clinically and commercially validated since 2016.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
