Medical device firm Capitan Orthopedics closed an oversubscribed seed round, bringing its total capital raised to date to $4.1 million.

The company intends to use the funds to continue project development and validation efforts and begin its first in-human clinical trial, which is expected to start in the first quarter of 2027, according to an Aug. 18 news release.

The seed round was oversubscribed by over $1.1 million dollars.

The company’s SupraSpacer is intended for patients with an irreparable rotator cuff tear. The metallic implant preserves 90% of the humeral head cartilage and uses a seven-step surgical procedure.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
