From department leadership roles to medtech positions, Becker’s reported on multiple spine surgeons who moved to new practices or added to their titles in the first quarter of 2026.

1. Fair Lawn, N.J.-based Alliance Orthopedics added Gino Chiappetta, MD. He specializes in spine surgery and orthopedic trauma.
2. Casper-based Banner Wyoming Medical Center added Daniela Abrams, MD. She specializes in complex brain and spine conditions.
3. Neil Patel, MD, is the new president and board chair of Spine Team Texas. He has worked with the Southlake-based practice since 2016 and serves as a partner.
4. Bassel Diebo, MD, will be co-director of the Spine Center at The Miriam Hospital in Providence, R.I.
5. Jacob Hoffmann, MD, joined Mississippi Sports Medicine in Jackson. He has expertise in cervical spine conditions and joined from Cleveland Clinic.
6. Paul Park, MD, was named neurosurgery chair at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Medicine’s in Memphis.
7. Neurosurgeon Anthony Asher, MD, was named president of Prisma Health Neurosciences Institute in Greenville, S.C.
8. The Charlottesville-based University of Virginia School of Medicine has appointed Aaron Dumont, MD, as chair of its department of neurosurgery. He begins the role in June.
9. Paul Kim, MD, was named chair of neurosurgery at Wake Forest University School of Medicine and Advocate Health’s Charlotte, N.C. campus.
10. SynerFuse, a spinal fusion medical device company, has appointed Nameer Haider, MD, as chief innovation officer.
11. Box Butte General Hospital in Alliance, Neb., added Lonnie Loutzenhiser, MD.
12. Spine surgeon Todd Albert, MD, was named chief medical officer for Legent Health, an owner and operator of orthopedic ASCs and surgical hospitals.
13. HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital in Fort Pierce added Oszkar Szentirmai, MD.
14. Southwest Medical Center in Liberal, Kan., is adding spine surgeon Zak Ibrahim, MD.
15. David Matusz, MD, has joined New York City-based Spine Associates of NYC.
16. Archbold Neurology/Neurosurgery in Thomasville, Ga., added spinal neurosurgeon Griffin Baum, MD.
17. Vijay Yanamadala, MD, was appointed vice chair of neurosurgery for the Fairfield Region at Hartford (Conn.) HealthCare’s Ayer Neuroscience Institute.
18. Ali Ravanpay, MD, PhD, has been named program director of Seattle-based University of Washington’s neurological surgery residency program.
