Sarasota (Fla.) Memorial Hospital has added 10 handheld, wireless robotic systems to support its orthopedic surgery program.

The TMINI miniature robotic system, developed by Think Surgical in partnership with Zimmer Biomet, enables precise bone preparation and implant placement during total knee arthroplasty. Shaped like a traditional surgical tool, the device integrates into existing workflows and eliminates the space demands of larger robotic systems, according to a July 20 report from the Sarasota Herald-Tribune.

The latest version of the TMINI system, FDA cleared in 2024, is designed for exclusive use with Zimmer Biomet’s Persona knee system. It uses preoperative CT scans to support customized implant positioning.

Orthopedic surgeons Sean Dingle, MD, and Edward Stolarski, MD, began using the system in early July, with more surgeons expected to adopt the technology in the coming months.
