The Philadelphia 76ers are optimistic that center Joel Embiid will return to play for the 2025 to 2026 season following his second knee surgery in under two years, according to a June 26 report from Sports Illustrated.
Jonathan Glashow, MD, a surgeon at New York City-based NYU Langone Sports Medicine Center, completed arthroscopic surgery on Mr. Embiid’s left knee in April, according to an April 11 report from Sports Keeda.
Dr. Glashow has operated on several other NBA athletes, including LA Clippers star Kawhi Leonard.
Mr. Embiid was only able to play 19 games in the 2024 to 2025 season before sustaining an injury. In the 2023 to 2024 season, his season was also cut short after just 39 games.
Mr. Embiid is now undergoing rehabilitation, physical therapy and frequent checkups with Dr. Glashow, according to SI.
