Kentucky hospital snags $600K grant for orthopedic robot

Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown, Ky., earned a $600,000 grant to buy a Zimmer Biomet robot for knee replacements.

The Legacy Foundation of Kentuckiana provided the grant for the Rosa robot, CHI Saint Joseph Health said in a Nov. 26 news release. Knee replacement demand has grown at an annual rate of 4.2% in the hospital’s region. 

Rosa robotics gives surgeons soft tissue feedback and precise bone resections to help with implant alignment and positioning. The robot will also strengthen the hospital’s ability to recruit orthopedic surgeons.
