The robot debuted at The Mater Hospital Sydney and is approved for use with Johnson & Johnson’s Attune total knee system. The hospital also onboarded Johnson & Johnson’s mobile training lab, which is designed to train surgeons on the robot, according to a Dec. 13 news release.
“These cases represent a historic first step for patients as we advance next generation surgery with Australia’s first ever clinical use of the Velys robotic-assisted solution,” Ben Travers, vice president of DePuy Synthes Australia, said in the release. “The Mater Sydney’s adoption of our innovative surgical technology is only the beginning as we strive to improve patient outcomes through state-of-the-art digital surgery.”
