Georgia hospital debuts J&J surgical robot

Rome, Ga.-based Floyd Medical Center logged its first case with DePuy Synthes’ Velys robot for knee replacements, Coosa Valley News reported Dec. 9.

The procedure was completed Dec. 6. The Velys robot is designed to assist surgeons in knee implant placement and help improve patient outcomes.

The robot is part of a $3.9 million investment from the hospital. Floyd Medical Center also added a second da Vinci Xi surgical system for general surgery.
