Developed by Synaptive Medical, Modus V features a robotic arm that helps surgeons guide surgical tools during surgery. The device connects to a monitor that shows the patient’s anatomy in real time.
Douglas Blaty, MD, a spine surgeon with Inland Northwest Spine, uses the system for decompression procedures, which make up 70 percent to 80 percent of his practice, he told the Journal.
Launched in October, Modus V also has applications for neurosurgery. The base model starts at about $400,000.
