Idaho hospital 1st in state to offer robotic spine surgery

West Valley Medical Center in Caldwell, Idaho, is reportedly the first hospital in the state to provide robotic spine surgery, according to ABC affiliate KIVI TV.

Robotic spine systems combine navigation technology with a robotic arm and enables surgeons to create a preoperative 3D plan based on the patient’s anatomy.

Robotic systems assist surgeons with the accurate implantation of pedicle screws.

Recent studies have documented the benefits of robotic spine surgery, which include reduced blood loss, fewer complications and less radiation exposure for operating room staff.
