Three things to know:

1. Sovah Health’s parent, Brentwood, Tenn.-based LifePoint Health, purchased the system for nearly $1 million.

2. The technology was installed in January. Since then, orthopedic surgeons trained to use the system have used it in 18 total knee and hip replacements.

3. The robotic system could encourage patients to consider undergoing joint replacement surgery now rather than putting it off, according to Susanne Washburn, RN, total joint coordinator at Sovah Health-Martinsville.
