Orthopedic surgeon Dr. Manny Sethi launches US Senate bid — 3 things to know

Nashville orthopedic trauma surgeon Manny Sethi, MD, has entered the 2020 race for Tennessee’s open U.S. Senate seat, reports the Tennessean.

Three things to know:

1. Dr. Sethi considers himself highly conservative and his campaign will focus on repealing and replacing the Affordable Care Act, combating the opioid epidemic and tackling the immigration crisis along the southern border.

2. He is the founder of Nashville, Tenn.-based Healthy Tennessee, a preventative health nonprofit which aims to create comprehensive health and wellness fairs in the state.

3. Dr. Sethi is board-certified in orthopedic surgery. He earned his medical degree from Harvard Medical School in Boston and specializes in orthopedic trauma and orthopedic surgery.
