Dr. Penar’s clinical interests include brain and spinal tumors, cervical and lumbar disc disease, movement disorders, spine disease and disorders and more.
He currently serves as professor of neurosurgery at University of Vermont and is board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery.
Dr. Penar’s research interests include quality and outcomes in neurosurgery, intracranial physiology and mathematical modeling and brain tumors. He was named to U.S. News and World Report’s Top Doctors list in 2012-2013.
Dr. Penar obtained his medical degree at Ann Arbor-based University of Michigan before interning and completing his residency at Yale New Haven (Conn.) Hospital.
