Switzerland-based Medacta has announced its presence in the shoulder surgery market with the Medacta Shoulder System.

1. Medacta is well-known for its hip, knee and spine products.

 

2. Prof. Ralph Hertel performed the first surgery utilizing the Medacta Shoulder System in Bern, Switzerland.

 

3. The system is a modular solution that offers wide-ranging options in size, an adjustable offset configurations and the CT-based MyShoulder 3D preoperative planning solution for patient-specific humeral and glenoid guides.

 

4. The Medacta Shoulder System was designed by European, Australian and American surgeons. It is capable of switching from a total to reverse arthroplasty without changing all components.

 

5. The system is still being evaluated by the surgeon design team and is expected to be available in 2018.
