Here are five key notes:
1. The Spine Center combines NYU Langone’s orthopedic surgery, neurosurgery and rehabilitation medicine departments. Many of the services are currently provided at the Center for Musculoskeletal Care.
2. Thomas Errico, MD, chief of the division of spine surgery and department of orthopedic surgery, and Anthony K. Frempong-Boadu, MD, director of the division of spine surgery in the department of neurosurgery, will co-direct The Spine Center.
3. The spine surgeons take a conservative approach to treating back pain and work with specialists at Rusk Rehabilitation and the Center for the Study and Treatment of Pain to assess non-surgical therapies including physical therapy, medication and injections.
4. The center’s specialists are experienced, evaluating 18,000 patients annually and performing 2,850 surgeries per year.
5. The center includes same-day surgery as well as MRI, X-ray and the EOS imaging system. The center is focused on treating both adult and pediatric patients with complex spinal problems, scoliosis, osteoarthritis, previous failed back surgery, tumors and other spine conditions and injuries.
