St. Francis Health cuts down on neurosurgery services: 5 things to know

Topeka, Kan.-based St. Francis Health will stop offering certain neurosurgery procedures on May 6, according to The Topeka Capital-Journal.

Here are five things to know:

 

1. St. Francis Health's two neurosurgeons will cease working at the center.

 

2. The center will no longer offer cranial surgery, as it accounts for less than 10 percent of the hospital's case load.

 

3. St. Francis Health is seeking a spine surgeon to perform spine surgeries, which account for 90 percent of the cases the neurosurgeons performed.

 

4. The hospital will continue to offer many general neurology services.

 

5. The center will also end its cardiothoracic surgery line.
