Orthopedic surgeon Dr. Michael M. Karch receives honor as distinguished alumnus

California orthopedic surgeon, Michael M. Karch, MD, has been named in the 2019 distinguished alumnus of Kutztown School District, Pa., reports The Reading Eagle.

Dr. Karch will be honored at a reception in Moselem Springs Golf Club in Berks County, Pa., on June 1.

He graduated from Kutztown High School in 1987, before earning an undergraduate degree at the University of Delaware in Newark, Del., and graduating from Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C., in 1995.

Dr. Karch specializes in orthopedic trauma, adult hip and knee reconstruction and is a founding member of Mammoth Orthopedic Institute in Mammoth, Calif. He also serves as chairman of surgery and anesthesia at Mammoth Hospital in Mammoth Lakes, Calif.

Dr. Karch co-invented a handheld navigational power drill that was recently approved by the FDA for clinical use in orthopedic trauma surgery and is the co-founder and president of KMW Enterprises, a corporate entity that develops intellectual property for surgical use.
