She was promoted from her role as the Mets’ non-operative medical director, a role she served for two years, according to a March 30 announcement. She succeeds Struan Coleman, MD, PhD, who is moving to Washington, D.C., and will continue as a consultant with the Mets medical team.
Dr. McElheny has dual board certification in pediatrics and sports medicine. She received her medical degree from Maywood, Ill.-based Loyola Stritch School of Medicine and completed her residency at New York City-based Weill Cornell Medical Center. She received fellowship training at New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery.
