Dr. David Altchek performs elbow surgery on Dodgers’ Alex Wood: 4 points

David Altchek, MD, is scheduled to perform elbow surgery on Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Alex Wood, according to the Seattle Times.

1. Dr. Altchek will perform arthroscopic surgery on Mr. Wood’s left elbow.

 

2. Mr. Wood is expected to take around two months to recover.

 

3. Dr. Altchek is an attending orthopedic surgeon and co-chief emeritus of the sports medicine and shoulder service at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City.

 

4. He previously served as the North American medical director for the Association of Tennis Professionals as well as team physician for the U.S. Davis Cup tennis team.
