Dr. Burak Ozgur performs spine surgeries in Palestine— 5 things to know

Burak Ozgur, MD, a neurosurgeon in Newport Beach, Calif., traveled to Palestine to perform spinal surgeries for free, according to The Orange County Register.

Here are five things to know:

 

1. Dr. Ozgur performed 12 surgeries the week of Thanksgiving.

 

2. He completes these mission trips with the help of the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund.

 

3. Dr. Ozgur specializes in minimally invasive spine surgery, treating scoliosis, chronic back pain, neck pain and degenerative disc disease, among other conditions.

 

4. He holds privileges at Los Angeles-based Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and Newport Beach-based Hoag Hospital.

 

5. Dr. Ozgur founded and serves as director of One Brain and Spine Center in Newport Beach.
