Dr. Ray Faderani highlights benefits of MIS spine — 3 notes

MIS

Ray Faderani, DO, of Greenacres, Fla.-based Atlas Medical and Orthopedics, highlighted the benefits of minimally invasive spine surgery in his region.

Here are three notes:

1. Dr. Faderani points to the following as potential benefits of MIS spine:

• Reduced infection or post-surgery pain
• Minor blood loss
• Better cosmetic results
• Decreased disruption of muscles
• Reduced need for opioids

2. Despite the benefits, Dr. Faderani emphasizes spine surgery should be the last option for patients suffering from pain.

3. Herniated and bulging discs, spinal stenosis, degenerative disc disease and osteoarthritis are key injuries that may benefit from a MIS procedure.

"It is imperative to have a spine physician that can impartially provide a treatment plan with the emphasis to keep this procedure as minimally invasive as possible," said Dr. Faderani.
