4 surgeons operating on pro athletes in 2023

Here are four surgeons who have operated or were set to operate on professional athletes that Becker’s has reported since Jan. 9:

1. Orlando (Fla.) Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute surgeon Craig Mintzer, MD, will perform surgery on Orlando Pride defender Carrie Lawrence to repair an ACL tear in her left knee. 

2. Keith Meister, MD, an orthopedic surgeon at Trinity Park Surgery Center in Arlington, Texas, will perform elbow surgery on San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy on Feb. 22.

3. Chad Prusmack, MD, a neurosurgeon at the Rocky Mountain Spine Clinic in Lone Tree, Colo., performed back surgery on Mark Stone, a forward for the Vegas Golden Knights. 

4. William Hutchinson, MD, a surgeon at Pacific Coast Hernia Center in Santa Monica, Calif., performed a procedure to repair an entrapped hip nerve on FC Cincinnati defender Matt Miazga.
