Here are four takeaways:
1. Medical student Harjus S. Birk; Seunggu Han, MD, chief neurosurgery resident; and Paul Larson, MD, professor and vice chair of clinical neurological surgery established the chapter.
2. The UCSF AANS Medical Student Chapter will hold its first meeting in February.
3. The chapter will promote neurosurgery to medical students, encourage networking and help build support among students, residents and faculty.
4. Its long-term goal is to offer research opportunities as well.
