Tucson-based Dr. Kai-Uwe Lewandrowski teaches endoscopic spine surgery in Rio — 4 highlights

Kai-Uwe Lewandrowski, MD, of Tucson, Ariz.-based Center For Advanced Spinal Surgery, traveled to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to create an endoscopic spine surgery education video, according to News 4 Tucson.

1. Dr. Lewandrowski collaborated with other surgeons to demonstrate performing surgical procedures, such as endoscopic surgery.

 

2. He noted endoscopic surgery presents a steep learning curve and Brazil lacks trained endoscopic spine surgeons.

 

3. The Brazilian Medical Military Academy also honored Dr. Lewandrowski for his work to create an outpatient spinal surgery program for recruits.

 

4. Dr. Lewandrowski completed his residency at Boston-based Massachusetts General Hospital.
