Rajesh Bindal, MD, allegedly billed for the surgical implantation of neurostimulator devices from March 16, 2021, to April 22, 2022, according to a news release. Those procedures usually require an operating room and are more invasive.
But Dr. Bindal was accused of giving patients devices for electro acupuncture, which requires a minimally invasive procedure and taping the device behind their ears. The procedures were done in Dr. Bindal’s clinic, the release said. In some cases, a device sales representative or physician assistant allegedly performed the procedures that were billed as surgeries.
Dr. Bindal is paying $2 million to resolve the allegations.
