Mothers take on scoliosis surgery waitlists with new advocacy group: 5 takeaways

Here are five takeaways:

1. Ms. Cahill and Ms. Long created the group because both of their sons have scoliosis.

2. Both children are waiting on extensive waitlists for corrective surgery. Since their scoliosis worsens over time, these long waitlists are damaging.

3. More than 200 children are on the spine surgery waitlist.

4. The Scoliosis Network aims to raise awareness about the waitlist and provide support for other parents with children suffering from scoliosis.

5. Private hospitals don’t offer pediatric orthopedic services.
