Dr. Simpson is a resident at Houston-based Baylor College of Medicine. When she completed her duties, attending physicians completed the surgery. It was Dr. Simpson’s first time voting in Texas. She previously worked at MD Anderson Cancer Center in New York City.

The polling station was crowded with voters after an earlier delay. In order to accommodate for the delay, the Houston voting site extended its open hours.
