Georgetown College names Dr. Benjamin Warf Distinguished Alumnus: 5 key notes

Benjamin Warf, MD, was named among five Distinguished Alumni and Distinguished Young Alumni from Georgetown College.

Here are five key notes on Dr. Warf:

 

1. He is the hydrocephalus and spina bifida chair and director of neonatal and congenital anomalies neurosurgery at Boston Children’s Hospital.

 

2. He is involved in CURE International and was founding medical director of CURE Children’s Hospital in Mbale, Uganda. He served there for six years after moving to Uganda in 2000.

 

3. At CURE Children’s Hospital in Uganda, he developed a new minimally invasive, shuntless hydrocephalus treatment to lower costs and require less post-surgery care.

 

4. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Warf is an associate professor of neurosurgery at Harvard Medical School.

 

5. Dr. Warf earned his undergraduate at Georgetown College and completed medical school at Harvard Medical School in Cambridge, Mass. His additional training includes a residency in neurosurgery at Case Western Reserve University and fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital.
