Here are six notes from the study:

1. Women with lumbar spine T-scores lower than femoral neck T-scores are more at risk of fractures.

2. Duina Alarkawi, MBBS, MPH, of St. Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney led the research.

3. The study investigated male and female patients 60 years or older.

4. Researchers discovered that 573 of 2,270 women exhibited lower lumbar spine than femoral neck T-scores.

5. Every “1 SD lower lumbar spine T-score than femoral neck T-score correlated with a significantly increased fracture risk in low lumbar women.”

6. The same results were not found in men.
