Florida spine surgeon named as one of the top 20 physicians 40 and under: 3 things to know

The North American Spine Society named Chukwuka Okafor, MD, an orthopedic spine surgeon, as one of the top 20 spine physicians 40 years old and younger, Spectrum News reported.

Here are three details to know about Dr. Okafor:

1. He founded the Lakeland-based Spine Institute of Central Florida in 2010.

2. Dr. Okafor received his medical degree from Boston Medical School and completed his residency at the Philadelphia-based Thomas Jefferson University Hospital’s Rothman Institute.

3. He completed a neurosurgery and orthopedic spine fellowship at Tampa-based Florida Orthopaedic Institute.
