Dr. William Thorell awarded University of Nebraska neurosurgery chair: 5 highlights

Omaha-based University of Nebraska Medical Center awarded William Thorell, MD, the Lyal G. Leibrock, M.D. Chair of Neurosurgery, according to Scottsbluff Star Herald.

Here are five highlights:

 

1. Dr. Thorell joined UNMC in 2004 and became an associate professor in 2011.

 

2. The endowed chair honors Dr. Leibrock who served as neurosurgery section chief for 17 years.

 

3. Dr. Thorell trained under Dr. Leibrock.

 

4. Dr. Thorell received his medical degree from UNMC College of Medicine and he completed his internship and neurosurgery residency at UNMC.

 

5. He then completed an endovascular surgical neuroradiology fellowship at Cleveland Clinic.
