Dr. Coe performed two-level disc replacement with the Mobi-C technology from Zimmer Biomet. The Mobi-C was the first disc to receive FDA approval for one- and two-level disc replacements. The patient returned to the gym and exercising regularly four weeks after surgery.
“We are able to achieve an exceedingly rapid recovery and a very high positive impact with the Mobi-C cervical disc replacement procedure,” said Dr. Coe. He also noted there is a lower rate of reoperations with artificial disc replacements when compared with spinal fusion surgery.
The patient was the first to receive two-level disc replacement at El Camino and reported being 90 percent pain free four weeks after surgery.
