Cleveland Clinic will incorporate a neurological assessment center into its new Neurological Institute building, scheduled to open in early 2027, to collect standardized measures of patients’ neurological function during routine outpatient visits.

The center will use markerless motion capture, manual dexterity testing and cognitive assessments to evaluate patients before appointments. The data will be integrated into the electronic health record and used to inform clinical care and longitudinal monitoring, according to a July 16 news release.

Researchers plan to use the standardized data to support clinical trials and develop predictive analytics for neurological diseases. The center could improve objective measurement of treatment outcomes and help identify early disease markers.

The center is expected to generate more standardized neurological performance data within its first month of use than any other center, health system or nonprofit in the world, supporting research into conditions including Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease, according to the release.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
